I Don't Like Cities, But I Like New York..

In my 26 years on this planet, I've honestly not been far away from home very often. And by not very far, I mean within approximately 60 kilometers away from where I was born.

The only vacation my parents ever took me and my brothers on, their idea of "away" was just another part of Denmark. Don't get me wrong, I love my country and we have some beautiful locations.. But as a 10 year old child, all I could think was, "Gosh I wonder what the Caribbean looks like?"

If I had to choose now, I wouldn't go somewhere that would require me to lie on a beach all day.. I think I managed to explain in the previous blog post that it doesn't turn out well for me.

Instead, I'd go visit the Empire State Building and The Museum of Modern Art.. Oh yeah, New York baby. That's my destination.. you know, when I have the money, and the time, and I get over my fear of flying. So if anyone's got a free bus ride available, hit me up ;)

So for this photo, I tried something I haven't before.. And that's using a green screen. It took me a while and a lot of reading to figure out how to rid of that pesky green hue along the border once I'd applied the mask. It was rather fun trying to place my avatar in a real life setting and it probably won't be the last attempt.

For this rather metropolitan looking outfit, I chose to wear a new dress from .:Vimitri:.

There's some part of me that's always thought a pencil skirt or dress is the epiphany of posh ladies, so go home Carrie Bradshaw.. there's a new bitch in town.

Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise

Funniest thing happened. Okay, it's not exactly the funniest.. Okay, it's not fun at all.

I just can't please you people, can I? ^^

Anyways.. As many of you probably already know, yesterday was the opening of Season's Story. I'm sure, by that, you've figured that's what I'm gonna talk about.. Well joke's on you, cause the sim was full. Pfft.. Go figure.

But before I knew it was full, I teleported there using the landmark I had from the last round. Imagine my surprise when I got in right away.. Surely that couldn't be right? Day one and I got in on the first try?

Yeah.. One is never that lucky folks.

I was transported to a residential area.. So beautiful, and I'll apologise profoundly to the residents of the house I accidently teleported right into.

Ma'am and/or Sir, your livingroom furniture was stunning.. XD

But the courtyard was quite lovely as well, and as you can tell, I just couldn't help but take a photo and add it to the blog.

Usually my photos are much more planned, and not so much on the spot.. But you've gotta change it up once in a while, and I ended up really happy with the result..

I've also ended up going back to a brand of skin I haven't worn in a long time, and that's Lara Hurley. Cleaning up my inventory, I was looking through all the skins I have and tried them on and really fell in love with how it looked on my shape.

Sadly it was an older skin and when I bought it back in the day, I bought it with red lipstick on.

Hurried down to the shop and tried out some different ones and ended up with the one called Ivy, which I think has brought a softness to my look that was lacking a little in the former one.

And honestly, I couldn't be happier that this is the dress I chose to wear for this trip.. Got it from .:Vimitri:. yesterday and the soft colours are just blowing me away. The little patterns on the green dress itself combined with the beige vest, is a perfect match in my opinion.

Peaches & Jam

When I first joined Second Life, and went freebie and group gift shopping (cause that was my only option), I got pretty much anything I could get my hands on. Lots of colours, lots of different items on at once... Lot and lots and lots.

As I started being able to actually purchase items, black and white became frequent colours in my inventory. You can never go wrong with a black dress, ya know?

At the same time, I started wearing less items. Simple became something I felt most comfortable with and still is to this day.

I read a lot of other blogs, and I can't help but being incredibly impressed when I see someone being able to match 10 different pieces of accessories without it looking like a huge mess.

Once in a while, I will attempt to accessorize in such a fashion, even Lady Gaga should be jealous. But truth be told, it never ends up looking like the magazines.

And even though I've managed to stumble away a bit from all the black and white, then simple is still my jam..

Jam.. That reminds me of something..

One of the things I'm really impressed by on this dress, is the shadowing. The folds and wrinkles are absolutely spot on, and the thin gold belt stands out without being overpowering. XD

Summertime Changes

We have entered the month of July by 5 days already.. I guess we can officially say it's summer now. Even though we technically started the summer months in June, I've always considered July to be the true month of unbearable heat and mosquito bites.

So far, I've managed to stay clear of the latter cause I do tend to get angry when bitten... By small itchy insects that is ^^

So what do I actually like about this season? Cause let's face it.. living in the North, you get very used to the cold, and I'm just one of those people who prefers it like that.

But summer does bring some things to the table that I enjoy very much... Haha, did you get it? It was a pun.. Oh wait, I haven't told you yet.

FRUIT.. fruit is what is brought to the table. *facepalms*

Okay, bad pun aside, I always look forward to the fruit this season. Strawberries, watermelon.. everything is so fresh and juicy and yummy I just wanna lock myself into a room with it and never come out.

And if you can move past how incredibly perverted and wrong that sounded, we shall move on.

Another thing I like to do with the change of seasons, is to spice things up a bit. It really doesn't have to be anything big.. maybe just a new hairstyle or something.

Now, in Second Life, I really can't blame the changes on seasons switching, cause in that case we'd have to invent some more months. Nevertheless, there have been some big and important changes in my SL that I would like to share with the rest of you guys.

I got engaged! That's right.. someone actually manages to put up with this insanity on a daily basis. For that reason alone, he must be someone worth hanging on to ;)

At the same time, I felt like it was once again time for a change of scenery. I did love my last home, and deleting the furniture as well as seeing all the work and memories gone, was quite a sad moment for me..

I'll be honest though.. the view from my new home is worth every moment of sadness to see the old one gone.. standing on the balcony and look out over the water is something I've gotten used to very quickly.

Another thing I can get used to very quick, is the lovely clothes from Vimitri.. This long black and white top is airy and perfect with a pair of short to make it casual, but can easily be dressed up to something a little more fancy than what I've chosen to go with.

But since this was the outfit I wore when my partner proposed, it was important for me to keep it like that for this post.

It's Not Always Black & White

I bet you thought that we were gonna talk about races now.. didn't you? Huh? Huh?

Oh just admit it already.... But, we're not.

Instead, we're gonna talk about a pet peeve of mine. And no, it's not the term ”pet peeve” in itself, though that drives me slightly off the hook as well.

But alas, my pet peeve is when I ask people a question regarding something they say, and their answer is, ”Cause...” or, ”That's just the way it is!”

I think it originated back when I was in school as a kid, asked the teacher a question, and that was the reply that I got.

”Because it is! Don't ask so many questions!”

Really? Don't ask questions? Then, how do we really learn?

If we just take everything that people say to heart and don't care enough to question what we're being told, then how do we know what's the truth and what's lies? And even more important, how the world genuinely works.

So don't be afraid to dig a little deeper. Not everything is what they appear, and if you want to know more, then why shouldn't you have the choice and freedom to do so?

In Denmark, we have song called ”Spørge Jørgen”. I'm sure you have one that's similar, but it's basically about a kid who asks his dad a whole lot of questions.

:: Why doesn't a cow have any wings? Why does it say muh and not woof? Why is my nail on my finger? If it was on my nose it'd be fun! Why isn't my eyes on my neck? Why haven't I turned into a cat? Why can't my boot talk? Why this and why that....::

Sure, it's a little silly, and most people would consider the questions to be too dumb to even answer. As we all know with young children, the actual answer probably wouldn't interest them that much, but that hardly makes the questions unvalid. Does it?

But there is certainly one thing we can't question, and that's the fact that .:Vimitri:. have joined the Fabulous and Something family as a sponsor.

I've looked around Second Life for quite a while for a good mesh slit dress, and this is one that I absolutely fell in love with. It fits well, it's classy yet sexy and just looks like a dream overall.

Checking out the store, either inworld or on the Marketplace is something you definitely won't regret. Quality clothes, cheap prices, what more do you really want? And yes, that's a valid question.
